Žilina – Čadca – Czech border railway modernisation (line 106D, corridor VI)
Modernisation of the double-track ŽSR line Žilina – Čadca – Mosty u Jablunkova, part of European rail corridor VI. ŽSR ran it as separate EU-co-financed projects. Žilina – Krásno nad Kysucou was built in 2008–2011 under a Doprastav-led joint venture. Čadca – Svrčinovec – state border was one works contract with TSS GRADE, split into two sections by funding source, and was completed on 12 December 2025. Krásno nad Kysucou – Čadca had only a design project (territorial decision issued on 31 August 2012) and no works contract on the ŽSR project pages. No ŽSR project page covers the Čadca – Skalité branch.

| Žilina – Krásno nad Kysucou Modernisation of the existing double-track line: safety and communication systems, track, overhead line, platforms, bridges, culverts and underpasses. The ŽSR page gives the works contract (no. 56/2008/0) as EUR 153,639,822.1 with the joint venture led by Doprastav, and the project start as 6 June 2008. Its signing-date column shows 30 November 2011, which is the works completion date, so no award date or cost-revision entry is recorded. The page adds that the completion approval proceedings were still under way. The contract was amended by three addenda and five change orders and the accepted price was not exceeded. The supervision contract (Inžinierske združenie Kysuce, EUR 4,383,724) was signed on 2 September 2008. Length measured from OpenStreetMap geometry (Žilina station to Krásno nad Kysucou station); the page states no length. | Opened | 20 km |

| Čadca – Svrčinovec zastávka (section A) Section A of the Čadca (excluding the station) – Svrčinovec – state border works: about 2.663 km of existing double track, with safety and communication systems, track, overhead line, 2 platforms, rebuilt bridges and culverts and a passenger overpass. The EUR 65,882,867.12 works contract (effective 29 March 2022) covers sections A and B together and is recorded on this lot only. The ŽSR page gives 29 March 2022 as the start of the main activities, which is the contract date, so no construction start is recorded. The ŽSR page does not give the chainage where the works start ("Čadca (mimo)"). The drawn line ends at Svrčinovec zastávka and is cut back along the track to match the stated 2.663 km, so its northern start is approximate. Chainages on sk.wikipedia (Svrčinovec zastávka 281.920, border 284.339) give about 2.42 km for section B and about 4.9 km for sections A and B together. | Opened | 3 km |

| Svrčinovec zastávka – Czech border (section B) Section B of the same works contract as section A (EUR 65,882,867.12, recorded on the Čadca – Svrčinovec lot): modernisation of the double-track line 106D from Svrčinovec zastávka to the Czech border, with three retaining walls at Svrčinovec and the halt rebuilt. ŽSR split it into phase 1 (OPII, main activities 29 March 2022 to 30 November 2023) and phase 2 (Programme Slovensko, from 1 December 2023); the phase 2 page records completion by 12 December 2025. Length measured from OpenStreetMap geometry (Svrčinovec zastávka to the border node); the pages state no length. The two funding entries are the EU shares of phase 1 and phase 2. | Opened | 2 km |
