Bucharest Metro Line M4 (Gara de Nord 2 – Străulești)
The shortest line of the Bucharest Metro, running north-west from Gara de Nord 2 along Calea Griviței and Bucureștii Noi to Străulești. Construction started in September 1989 and stopped after the revolution, so the first section opened only on 1 March 2000, followed by Parc Bazilescu in 2011 and Străulești in 2017, all financed with European Investment Bank loans. Metrorex records 7.44 km and 8 stations in operation. The section from Gara de Nord 2 to 1 Mai will also carry line M6 to the airport, and an 11 km southern extension to Gara Progresul went to tender in April 2024.
