Southern expressway planned from the D1 at Chocholná near Trenčín through Bánovce nad Bebravou, Prievidza, Žiar nad Hronom, Zvolen, Lučenec, Rimavská Sobota and Rožňava to the D1 at Rozhanovce near Košice. Modelled here are the opened sections with sourced dates (the Bánovce, Žiar nad Hronom, Ožďany, Figa and Tornaľa bypasses and the stretch from Zvolen to Tomášovce), the Košice bypass from Košice, Juh to Hrašovík, and three sections at tender stage. Several early sections were opened as one carriageway only. The stretch shared with the R1 between Žiar nad Hronom and Zvolen is counted in the R1 project. Ruskovce – Pravotice (Bánovce nad Bebravou bypass, half profile)

First section of the R2 between Trenčín and Prievidza, built as one carriageway (category 1/2 R 24,5/120) with 15 bridges and 3 junctions. TSK gives the contract price as EUR 88.2 million excluding VAT (EUR 105.82 million including VAT), financed from EU funds and the state budget. TSK names the builder as Investičné stavby, a. s. (Košice), while sk.wikipedia names the joint venture of Inžinierske stavby, a.s. and Cesty Nitra, a.s., which is recorded here. The regional authority (TSK) gives the whole section as 10.760 km; the recorded 9.56 km is the half-profile length given by sk.wikipedia and historiadialnic.sk. The drawn line (9.65 km) starts at the temporary connection to the I/9 at Ruskovce and ends at Pravotice. The right half is not in the plan before 2034 according to sk.wikipedia.

Žiar nad Hronom west bypass (half profile)

Western bypass of Žiar nad Hronom from the Žiar nad Hronom, sever junction to the Žiar nad Hronom, juh interchange with the R1, with 2 grade-separated junctions and 5 bridges totalling 293 m. Historiadialnic.sk gives 1.36 km of full profile, sk.wikipedia about 1.4 km. The drawn line (5.17 km, about 10% under the recorded length) follows the OpenStreetMap ways tagged R2 and ends at the R1 junction; the R1 and R2 share the road from there to Zvolen, which is counted in the R1 project.

Pstruša – Kriváň (Detva southern bypass)

Full profile, category R 24,5/120, running beside the I/16 and railway line 160, with 18 bridges, 3 junctions and the Detva feeder road. sk.wikipedia gives the consortium's price as EUR 178 million without a VAT basis, so it is not recorded as a money field; the same page notes earlier estimates of EUR 134 million (2009) and EUR 232 million (summer 2012). The drawn line (10.19 km, 2% under) starts at the Pstruša junction, which OpenStreetMap names Vígľaš, and ends at the Kriváň junction.

Kriváň – Mýtna (Krivánsky potok viaduct)

Full profile from the Kriváň junction to the temporary at-grade connection before Mýtna, dominated by the Krivánsky potok viaduct, which the CDB register gives as 4.37 km (NDS said about 5 km during construction), the longest in Slovakia. The consortium was the winner of NDS's first tender judged on several criteria. The drawn line (9.06 km) ends at the OpenStreetMap node 9.1 km from the Kriváň junction, where the Mýtna – Lovinobaňa, Tomášovce section begins.

Zacharovce – Bátka (left half)

Half-profile section between the Rimavská Sobota and Bátka interchanges. NDS lists it with 8.32 km at the stage 'Súťaž na zhotoviteľa stavby'; the MDV road schedule as reproduced by sk.wikipedia gives a tender launched on 30 March 2026 and a start in 2027. Opening years are not recorded: the table and the MDV workbook disagree. The line follows the proposed R2 ways in OpenStreetMap (no junction nodes are mapped there). The Zacharovce and Bátka cuts are set by the official lengths of 8.32 km and 6.18 km counted back from the start of the Figa bypass, which puts the end of the Ožďany bypass 25.0 km away against 25.06 km from the NDS lengths.

Tendered8 km–––––
Bátka – Figa (left half)

Half-profile section from the Bátka interchange to the start of the Figa bypass, with no interchanges. NDS lists it with 6.18 km at the stage 'Súťaž na zhotoviteľa stavby'; the MDV road schedule as reproduced by sk.wikipedia gives a tender launched on 30 March 2026 and a start in 2027. Opening years are not recorded: the table and the MDV workbook disagree. sk.wikipedia notes that a building permit was issued in 2024. The line follows the proposed R2 ways in OpenStreetMap; the Bátka cut is set by the official length of 6.18 km counted back from the Figa bypass.

Figa bypass (half profile)

Left half of the Figa bypass, one carriageway in category R 11,5/100. The builders are named by sk.wikipedia for the Figa and Tornaľa bypasses together (14 km, 19 bridges, 3 junctions, 2003–2008). Historiadialnic.sk gives 2.708 km for this half; the recorded 3.3 km is the sk.wikipedia table length. The drawn line (3.4 km) runs from the first built OpenStreetMap way to the node 3.3 km along, where the Tornaľa bypass begins.

Košice, Šaca – Haniska (I. úsek)

Southern part of the Košice bypass from the Šaca interchange to the R2 and R4 junction at Haniska. NDS lists it as Košice, Šaca – Košické Oľšany, I. úsek (6.80 km, 'Súťaž na zhotoviteľa stavby'). Tender and opening dates are not recorded: sk.wikipedia's reproduction of the MDV road schedule gives a tender launched on 27 May 2026, while the MDV workbook lists the tender as still in preparation. The drawn line follows the proposed OpenStreetMap ways in two pieces (6.51 km, 4% under): the mapped ways do not meet near Šaca, and the link into the Haniska junction is not drawn.

Tendered7 km–––––
Košice, Šaca – Košické Oľšany, II. úsek (Košice, Juh – Hrašovík)

Full profile, category R 24,5/120 (R 24,5/100 on a shorter part), from the Košice, Juh interchange with the R4 through the new Krásna interchange to the Hrašovík interchange (Košice, Východ) at the D1, with 13 bridges, the Valaliky rest area and the Valaliky wetland restoration. sk.wikipedia gives the contract price as EUR 159,100,002.1 with the VAT basis unstated, the amount excluding VAT as EUR 132.6 million and a pre-contract estimate of EUR 202 million. The contract ran from March 2022 to March 2025. The NDS press releases and the CDB register give the length as 14.2 km (the NDS tender notice 14.262 km), historiadialnic.sk 14.261 km. The CDB register describes it as a new R4 section and OpenStreetMap tags the ways R4, but NDS and sk.wikipedia treat it as the R2. The drawn line (14.13 km) starts where the R4 Košice, Juh – Milhosť line starts. historiadialnic.sk lists a further 1.061 km, Hrašovík – Košické Oľšany, as part of the R2 works, opened on 16 December 2019 together with D1 Budimír – Bidovce but listed apart from the 14.44 km of that D1 section. It is neither drawn nor counted in this lot.
