D3 motorway (Hričovské Podhradie – Žilina – Čadca – Polish border)
Motorway from the D1 at Hričovské Podhradie past Žilina and Čadca to the Polish border at Skalité, where it meets the S1. sk.wikipedia gives its length as 59.1 km. About 40 km are open: the Žilina section in full profile, and the Čadca bypass and the section to the border in half profile (one carriageway). The 26 km between Žilina, Brodno and Čadca, Bukov are under construction since December 2025, for about EUR 890 million excluding VAT; the second carriageway of the Čadca bypass is built in the same programme and recorded on its open lot. The second carriageway from Svrčinovec to the border is planned after 2040. Costs from before 2009 are in SKK and appear in notes only. Lengths are the sourced section lengths, so they do not add up to the 59.1 km.

| Hričovské Podhradie – Žilina, Strážov Junction with the D1 at Hričovské Podhradie to the Žilina, Strážov exit, in full profile from the start. Lengths differ between sources: 7.53 km in the sk.wikipedia section text (which cites the road decision), 6.9 km in its table and 8.479 km on historiadialnic.sk. The recorded 7.53 km is the first; the drawn line is 8.2 km and includes the junction ramps. Construction cost 6 billion SKK (prose only: SKK is not in the exchange-rate table). The two sources also disagree on the 2007 stage: sk.wikipedia gives 4 km opened on 12 January 2007, historiadialnic.sk gives 5.5 km on that day and the right carriageway on 12 December 2007. | Opened | 8 km |

| Žilina, Strážov – Žilina, Brodno (Považský Chlmec tunnel) Western bypass of Žilina: a 1.5 km viaduct across the Hričov reservoir on 57 piers, then the 2.2 km twin-tube Považský Chlmec tunnel (2,249 m per sk.wikipedia), ending at the Žilina, Brodno exit, where it joins road I/11 temporarily. Built by an Eurovia SK, Hochtief CZ and SMS consortium. NDS and sk.wikipedia report that it was built for just under EUR 255 million (NDS: "necelých 255 miliónov eur bez DPH", excluding VAT, price year not stated), against an original NDS estimate of EUR 257.9 million (sk.wikipedia, VAT basis not stated). Neither figure is recorded as a money field. The drawn line is 4.5 km (7% over) because it starts at the Strážov exit. | Opened | 4 km |

| Žilina, Brodno – Kysucké Nové Mesto From the Žilina, Brodno junction along the Kysuca river and road I/11 to the south of Kysucký Lieskovec, 11.2 km in full profile with 16 bridges including an eco-duct, 18.5 km of noise walls and a relocation of I/11. Built by the Združenie D3 Brodno – KNM consortium. sk.wikipedia lists the opening as 2029; the EIA notice of April 2024 gave about three years of construction. OSM has no D3 ways for the first 1.7 km after Brodno, which is drawn as a straight line, and the end of the lot is cut at the sourced length of 11.2 km from the Brodno junction. The three Kysuce sections together cost about EUR 890 million excluding VAT, of which 85% from EU funds and the rest from the state budget. | Under construction | 11 km |

| Kysucké Nové Mesto – Oščadnica Middle section through the Kysuca valley, bypassing Kysucký Lieskovec, Dunajov and Krásno nad Kysucou: 22 bridges, one interchange (Krásno nad Kysucou), a rest area, an 80 m wide eco-duct and more than 14 km of noise walls. The NDS page gives 9,625 m; sk.wikipedia and the schedule give 10.8 km. The start and end are cut by the sourced lengths of this and the previous lot, not at a junction. The three Kysuce sections together cost about EUR 890 million excluding VAT, of which 85% from EU funds and the rest from the state budget. | Under construction | 10 km |

| Oščadnica – Čadca, Bukov (half profile, Horelica tunnel) Čadca bypass built as one carriageway with level junctions, including the 600 m single-tube Horelica tunnel (605 m per sk.wikipedia), opened as road I/11a. Length 4.8 km is the sk.wikipedia table value and matches historiadialnic.sk (3.44 km Oščadnica – Čadca plus 1.377 km of the Čadca bypass, both on 29 October 2004); the sk.wikipedia section text gives 5.971 km. NDS and historiadialnic.sk date the opening to 29 October 2004 (the tunnel ceremony); the sk.wikipedia section text says April 2005. Free of charge for cars up to 3.5 t. The lot stays opened while the second carriageway is built on the same corridor: a 5.3 km design-and-build contract (NDS, Združenie D3 Ošč-Ča of Váhostav, Metrostav DS and Duna Aszfalt) with a second Horelica tube of about 600 m, 21 bridges, a rest area and a motorway maintenance centre. The tender closed on 8 August 2025, the contract (EUR 230.4 million excluding VAT, signed 30 September 2025) is not recorded as a money field because it covers 5.3 km against the 4.8 km here, and the foundation stone was laid in December 2025. sk.wikipedia lists the second carriageway for 2030 and puts the section length at 4.8 km. It is the first of the three Kysuce sections to start; the three together cost about EUR 890 million excluding VAT, 85% from EU funds and the rest from the state budget. The drawn line is 5.3 km (10% over): it runs from the end of the Kysucké Nové Mesto – Oščadnica lot to the Čadca, Bukov junction so that the lots join. | Opened | 5 km |

| Čadca, Bukov – Svrčinovec Six-kilometre Čadca bypass in full profile, 19 bridges (the longest 832 m) and two interchanges, ending at the Svrčinovec junction. The section starts at the Čadca, Bukov junction with the right carriageway, and part of the left carriageway was already open from 2004 (counted in the previous lot). The contract price was 239 million EUR excluding VAT; sk.wikipedia gives 42 million EUR per kilometre and an initial state plan of 199 million. Built by Strabag, Porr and Hochtief. | Opened | 6 km |

| Svrčinovec – Skalité (Svrčinovec and Poľana tunnels, Valy bridge) Half profile (one carriageway) from the Svrčinovec junction, with the R5 connection planned there, through the Svrčinovec and Poľana tunnels (1.3 km together per sk.wikipedia) and past the Valy bridge, 84 m high, to Skalité. Opened together with the Skalité – border lot on 10 June 2017; the two together are 15.46 km, cost just over 417 million EUR, and save 9 minutes against road I/11. Free of charge for cars up to 3.5 t. The second carriageway is planned after 2040 and is not recorded as a lot. The recorded 12.28 km is the historiadialnic.sk and sk.wikipedia length; the boundary with the next lot is cut by the sourced length of that lot (3.18 km) back from the border, so the drawn line is 11.7 km. The Skalité junction itself lies about 1.5 km nearer the border. The state expected a price of EUR 365.6 million before the tender (sk.wikipedia, VAT basis and price year not stated); the winning bid was EUR 329.9 million. | Opened | 12 km |

| Skalité – Polish border Last 3.18 km to the border with Poland, where the road continues as the Polish S1. Started in 1997 and stopped after 1998, so it stood unfinished for almost 20 years; the sk.wikipedia section text names Váhostav as the builder. Opened on 10 June 2017 with the Svrčinovec – Skalité lot, half profile only. Free of charge for cars up to 3.5 t. The second carriageway is planned after 2040 and is not recorded as a lot. The length is the historiadialnic.sk value (sk.wikipedia: 3.1 km). | Opened | 3 km |
