R3 expressway (Orava and Turiec sections)

First section of the R3, from the temporary connection to the I/59 north of Trstená past the Trstená exit to the Tvrdošín exit. One carriageway only. historiadialnic.sk gives 6.716 km (right carriageway) and a start on 31 March 2008; sk.wikipedia gives 7.2 km and says construction started in April 2008 and ran for 30 months. 14 bridges. The drawn line is 6.45 km, cut at the north end of the trunk ways with ref R3 and at the Tvrdošín junction node.

Bypass of Tvrdošín from the Tvrdošín exit on the Trstená bypass to the Nižná junction, on the left bank of the Orava. Built as one carriageway (category R 24.5/100), with 260 m in full profile from km 3.900 to km 4.160. NDS counts 5.6 km including 480 m of junction ramps and a 697 m feeder; the 4.4 km is the R3 route itself. Tender launched on 24 July 2017 at an expected EUR 74.98 million excluding VAT. A first evaluation on 2 December 2019 named a Todini-led consortium at EUR 59.40 million excluding VAT, after objections; the contract was signed with Hochtief SK, Porr and Hydroekol Dolný Kubín on 25 February 2021 (the 20 November 2020 release named Alpine Slovakia instead of Porr). Contract duration converted from days: 822 days. NDS first expected opening in 2023; on 23 March 2023 it said harder rock, a pyrotechnic survey and gas pipeline relocations would move completion and the final price. The drawn line runs 4.47 km to the end of the ways with ref R3 before the proposed continuation.

Bypass between two temporary connections to the I/59, west and east. One carriageway, category R 11.5/100, speed limit 100 km/h, signed as I/59A until it becomes part of the R3. 9 bridges, the main one 750 m long over the Orava and the railway. historiadialnic.sk gives 6.442 km (right carriageway), a start in November 2004 and opening on 26 November 2007. The drawn line is 5.61 km, from the first to the last way with ref R3 as trunk road, and omits the connection roads at both ends.

Bypass of Horná Štubňa on the I/65 between the Kremnické Bane and Šturec passes, with a temporary connection to the I/65 at each end. One carriageway only, a detached part of the R3 with no link to the other sections. 6 bridges. historiadialnic.sk gives 4.321 km (left carriageway), a start on 17 December 2008 and opening on 23 November 2010; the sk.wikipedia section table gives 4.7 km. The drawn line is 3.99 km, from the first to the last way with ref R3 as trunk road, and omits the connection roads at both ends.
