A25 Thessaloniki – Serres – Promachonas

Vertical axis of the Egnatia Odos (part of E79, the approach to Pan-European Corridor IV), from the A2 at Lagkadas by way of Serres and Sidirokastro to the Bulgarian border at Promachonas. The operator gives 96 km; Greek Wikipedia gives 105 km measured from Derveni. Of the 96 km, 79 km were built new and opened in stages from 2001 under 14 contracts (budget EUR 465 million including VAT), and the other 17 km reused the existing National Road 12 (Lachanas – Serres), which has two lanes per direction and no hard shoulder. The last new section, 5 km between the Lefkonas and Kato Christos junctions, opened on 2 June 2017, which Greek Wikipedia gives as the official completion date. An operator page archived on 20 May 2013 gave 65 km open and 31 km under construction. The three lots are cut at junctions drawn from OpenStreetMap; no source found gives opening dates for the earlier sections.

Lagkadas (A2) – Serres (Lefkonas)

Includes the Lachanas – Serres stretch that was part of the old National Road 12 (17 km of the axis reused existing road, with two lanes per direction and no hard shoulder). The twin Dorkada tunnel (288 m per Greek Wikipedia) opened in 2010 and lies inside this lot. No source found dates the opening of the sections before the last 5 km: 2017-06 is the latest bound, since the 2 June 2017 report calls the Lefkonas – Kato Christos stretch the last section under construction, and the real opening was earlier, in stages from 2001. Length measured from OpenStreetMap geometry, from the first Α25 way near the A2 at Lagkadas to the Serres (Lefkonas) junction.
