Bucharest Metro Line M6 (Gara de Nord – Otopeni Airport)

Metro line under construction between Bucharest's main railway station, Gara de Nord, and Henri Coandă International Airport at Otopeni: about 17.8 km with 16 stations, four of them shared with line M4. Phase II (1 Mai–Tokyo, 6.6 km, 6 stations) started in December 2023 and phase III (Tokyo–Airport, 7.6 km, 6 stations) in March 2025, with completion expected by 2028. The estimated €1.2 billion cost is covered from the national budget, EU funds and a JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) loan. It will be the airport's second rail connection, after the Gara de Nord–Otopeni surface link that opened in 2020.
