A13 Motorway (Carpathian Motorway)
Planned 281 km motorway across the Eastern Carpathians linking the A1 at Boița (Sibiu) with the A7 Moldavia Motorway at Răcăciuni (Bacău), via Făgăraș, Brașov, Sfântu Gheorghe, Târgu Secuiesc and the Oituz pass. The project is split into three sections: the 68 km Boița–Făgăraș section is under construction on all four lots, contracted in 2023–2024 to the Turkish builder Makyol; the 46 km Făgăraș–Brașov and the 162 km Brașov–Bacău sections are still in feasibility-study and design stage. Originally numbered A5, it was renamed A13 after being merged with the Sibiu–Făgăraș–Brașov project. After a 2025 route revision around the Hărman military testing range, roughly 12 km of tunnels are proposed on the mountain section.
