A8 Târgu Mureș–Iași–Ungheni Motorway (Unirii)

Motorway of about 304 km, partly under construction, crossing the Eastern Carpathians to link Transylvania with Moldavia: from Târgu Mureș (A3) to Iași, then on to the Moldovan border at Ungheni (Prut crossing towards Chișinău). Also known as the Union Motorway (Autostrada Unirii) or East–West Motorway, it is part of the TEN-T Core Network. As of May 2026, eleven sections (~260 km) are under design and construction, the first contract (Leghin–Târgu Neamț) signed in September 2023; the last two sections (Târgu Frumos–Lețcani and Iași–Ungheni, ~44 km) are tendered.

Moțca – Târgu Frumos (incl. A7 junction)

Tronson 1 Moțca–Târgu Frumos (27 km): CNIR designated the SA&PE Construct (leader) – Tehnostrade – Spedition UMB – Euro-Asfalt association on 24 April 2026 and signed the design-and-execution contract on 28 May 2026, RON 4.87bn excluding VAT, 46 months of which 10 for design and 36 for execution. Design runs from the CNIR start order of 24 August 2026, with works due from June 2027. A priority 5.5 km segment linking the A8 to DN2 and the A7 is contracted for 12 months. Danlin XXL had won the original October 2025 award at RON 4.76bn; it was overturned on appeal and the offers re-evaluated.
