A8 Târgu Mureș–Iași–Ungheni Motorway (Unirii)

Section 1A Târgu Mureș–Miercurea Nirajului, contract signed 16 February 2024 (Nurol)

Ditrău–Grințieș (section 2A) contract, SA&PE Construct–Tehnostrade–Euro Asfalt–Spedition UMB; Leghin–Târgu Neamț signed September 2023 at RON 1.56bn (≈€313M), 6 months design + 24 months execution. Outlook from Cătălin Urtoi (civic association), reported by punctul.ro on 15 July 2026: Vânători Neamț – Moțca (29.91 km, UMB, in execution) could open in 2026; Ditrău – Grințieș (38 km) works to finish in 2030; Pipirig – Vânători Neamț (19.3 km) not before 2031.

Tronson 1 Moțca–Târgu Frumos (27 km): CNIR designated the SA&PE Construct (leader) – Tehnostrade – Spedition UMB – Euro-Asfalt association on 24 April 2026 and signed the design-and-execution contract on 28 May 2026, RON 4.87bn excluding VAT, 46 months of which 10 for design and 36 for execution. Design runs from the CNIR start order of 24 August 2026, with works due from June 2027. A priority 5.5 km segment linking the A8 to DN2 and the A7 is contracted for 12 months. Danlin XXL had won the original October 2025 award at RON 4.76bn; it was overturned on appeal and the offers re-evaluated.

Tronson 2 Târgu Frumos – Lețcani, 28.6 km. The design-and-execution tender was launched in February 2025 at an estimated RON 6.5bn and drew six offers; ARENA Construcțiilor gives the estimate as RON 5.5–6.5bn excluding VAT. Tender terms: 46 months, 10 for design and 36 for execution; no contract is signed yet. Lețcani–Iași (sector 3, 17.7 km) execution contract with FCC Construcción. CNIR designated FCC Construcción for Tronson 3 Lețcani (DN28) – DN24 (Iași) on 3 April 2026 with a design-and-execution offer of RON 3.93bn excluding VAT, 25.7% below the minimum estimated value, over 46 months (10 design, 36 execution). The contract was signed about two weeks before 12 June 2026. Design runs from the CNIR start order of 24 August 2026, with works due from June 2027.

Tendered section of the A8; the Ungheni road bridge over the Prut is to be financed from EU grants and the state budget. Tronson 4 DN24 (Iași) – Vama Ungheni, 15.47 km; the contract also covers the first kilometres of motorway in Moldova. CNIR designated the Itinera – Saipem – ICM association on 24 April 2026 at RON 3.57bn excluding VAT, against a tender estimate of RON 4.7bn excluding VAT, and signed the design-and-execution contract on 2 July 2026. On 5 August 2026 the Bucharest Court of Appeal suspended execution of the contract until the case is decided (final ruling); the next hearing is on 30 September 2026. Terms are 10 months design and 36 months execution. A design start order dated 24 August 2026 was reported in July 2026, before the court suspension; whether it took effect is unclear.
