Fruška Gora Corridor (Novi Sad – Ruma)

Expressway IB-21 from Novi Sad across Fruška Gora to Ruma, 47.7 km in four sections with the twin-tube Iriški venac tunnel and a Danube bridge of about 1,770 m. China Road and Bridge Corporation builds it under a commercial contract of 6 October 2020, with JP Putevi Srbije as investor. The ministry reports preparatory works on Section 1 and bridge and tunnel works on Sections 2 and 3, and gives no completion date. Lot lengths are the press figures per section, which sum to 45.2 km; OpenStreetMap maps about 40.7 km of the alignment.

Sections of Fruška Gora Corridor (Novi Sad – Ruma): status, length, dates, cost, funding and contractors
SectionsStatusLengthTimelineCostFundingContractorsContract terms
Section 1: Petrovaradin – Paragovo

Built by CRBC under commercial contract no. 48-00-7081/2020-3 of 6 October 2020, which covers the whole corridor. MGSI gives no contract value for the sections (the 850 million USD it lists is the investment value) and no completion date, so none is recorded. MGSI reports a construction permit for preparatory works on part of Section 1 and that these works have started, so it is recorded as under construction. The section runs from the Petrovaradin Istok interchange to Paragovo and passes the Širine tunnel (350 m according to gradnja.rs and B92). MGSI names no section endpoints. The section names and per-section lengths come from gradnja.rs (B92 repeats the names), which gives Section 3 as 6.9 km, Section 1 as 11.3 km, Section 2 as 16.5 km and Section 4 as 10.5 km; these sum to 45.2 km against the 47.7 km MGSI gives for the corridor. The cut points are placed on the OpenStreetMap alignment at the Petrovaradin Istok interchange (Sections 3 and 1) and at the Iriški venac tunnel portal at Paragovo (Sections 1 and 2). Drawn OpenStreetMap geometry is shorter than the press length.

Section 2: Paragovo – Ruma bypass

Built by CRBC under commercial contract no. 48-00-7081/2020-3 of 6 October 2020, which covers the whole corridor. MGSI gives no contract value for the sections (the 850 million USD it lists is the investment value) and no completion date, so none is recorded. MGSI states that building permits are issued for larger parts of Sections 2 and 3 and that bridge and tunnel works are under way, so it is recorded as under construction. The section holds the twin-tube Iriški venac tunnel under Fruška Gora: gradnja.rs and B92 give 3.5 km, and the mapped tubes are about 3.5 km each. MGSI lists "tunel (7 km, dve cevi)", which reads as the two tubes added together, so profile.tunnelKm records 3.5. The tunnel lies inside this lot of the same project, so it has no separate lot and no partOf link. Drawn OpenStreetMap length is within 1% of the press length.

Section 3: Kać – Petrovaradin

Built by CRBC under commercial contract no. 48-00-7081/2020-3 of 6 October 2020, which covers the whole corridor. MGSI gives no contract value for the sections (the 850 million USD it lists is the investment value) and no completion date, so none is recorded. MGSI states that building permits are issued for larger parts of Sections 2 and 3 and that bridge and tunnel works are under way, so it is recorded as under construction. The section runs from the Kać interchange to Petrovaradin and crosses the Danube on a bridge of 1,765 m (gradnja.rs, B92; MGSI gives about 1,770 m). The mapped alignment starts at the end of the mapped carriageway north of the Danube, short of the Kać interchange, so the drawn line is shorter than the press length.

Section 4: Ruma bypass

Built by CRBC under commercial contract no. 48-00-7081/2020-3 of 6 October 2020, which covers the whole corridor. MGSI gives no contract value for the sections (the 850 million USD it lists is the investment value) and no completion date, so none is recorded. MGSI mentions no works on Section 4, so it is recorded as contracted but not started. The mapped alignment ends south-east of Ruma, short of the connection to the existing road, so the drawn line is shorter than the press length.
